Preparation of the patient for general clinical tests

Patient preparation and biomaterial collection for general urine analysis

How to collect urine correctly?

- The day before the urine collection, it is necessary to avoid physical exertion and nervous tension. During the day you can not eat fatty, fried, spicy foods, alcohol, as well as foods that can change the color of urine.

- Before collecting the urine sample, a thorough toilet of the genitourinary organs is carried out.

- The first-morning portion of urine, allocated by the patient on an empty stomach, in the amount of 100-200 ml is collected.

- It is necessary that at least 2 hours have passed since the last urination.

- Collect in a disposable container with a lid, and urine is delivered to the laboratory from 8.00 to 10.00 am.

Preparation of the patient and collection of biomaterial for the analysis of daily proteinuria

- In the morning at 6-8 am the patient empties the bladder and pours out this portion, then during the day collects all the urine (with a normal drinking regime, about 1.5 liters per day) in a clean container with a lid with a capacity of at least 2 liters.

- The last portion is collected at the time when the collection was started the day before.

- The container with urine is stored in a cool place.

- At the end of the urine collection, its volume is measured, and the urine is mixed well and poured 50-100 ml into a disposable container in which it will be delivered to the laboratory.

- Be sure to indicate the volume of daily urine.

- Delivery to the CDL is carried out before 10 am.

Patient preparation and collection of biomaterial for the Nechiporenko urine test (detection of the latent inflammatory process)

- In the morning during the first urination, only the middle portion of urine (in the middle of urination) is collected in a disposable container (15-20 ml is enough).

- It is not recommended to take the ZAS and Nechiporenko urine test on the same day.

Preparation of the patient and collection of biomaterial for urine analysis by Zimnitsky (assessment of the concentration capacity of the kidneys)

- After emptying the bladder at 6 am, every three hours during the day, urine is collected in separate containers, on which the collection time and portion number are indicated, a total of 8 portions.

1 portion - from 6.00 to 9.00.

2nd portion - from 9.00. to 12.00.

3rd portion - from 12.00. to 15.00.

4th portion - from 15.00. to 18.00.

5th portion - from 18.00. to 21.00.

6 portion - from 21.00. to 24.00.

7th portion - from 24.00. to 3.00.

8th serving - from 3:00 to 06:00.

- The patient must be warned not to mix up the containers during the collection of urine and not to leave the containers empty - each container must contain urine for the period of time indicated on it.

- All collected urine in 8 special containers is delivered to the laboratory.

Preparation of the patient and collection of biomaterial for glucose profile

- The patient empties the bladder into the toilet at 8.00.

- Subsequently, he/she collects urine in 3 vessels:

              1 portion - from 8.00 to 14.00.

              2nd portion - from 14.00 to 20.00.

              3rd portion - from 20.00. to 8.00.

- Measure the amount of urine in each portion, record it in the diuresis sheet, and leave no more than 100 ml in each vessel.

- The nurse in the referral, in addition to general data and portion number, indicates the amount of urine in each portion.

-The patient should be on a normal diet.

- Depending on the frequency of urination, the patient urinates in each vessel one or more times, but only within 6 hours.

- The vessels with collected urine are stored in a sanitary room in a cool place.

Preparation of the patient and collection of biomaterial for a 3-cup sample

- 1st option (used to clarify the source of leukocyturia)

Without a break in urination, the patient collects urine in two glasses: 1 - initial, and 2 - middle portion, without completely emptying the bladder. After the prostate massage, the last portion of urine is collected in the 3rd glass.

- 2nd variant (used for topical diagnosis of hematuria)

In this case, the 3rd portion of urine is collected without prior prostate massage.

Preparation of the patient:

1.     Urine is collected in the morning (after the night).

2.     A thorough toilet of the external genital organs is carried out.

3.     Urine is collected in disposable containers.

Patient preparation and collection of biomaterial for urine diastase analysis

- The study is prescribed only in the presence of severe pain syndrome;

- Morning or, if necessary, any portion of urine is collected;

- Urine is delivered to the laboratory no later than 15-20 minutes after urination, the urine should be warm.

How to properly prepare for the analysis of feces, genitourinary discharge, and sputum!

Preparation of the patient and collection of biomaterial for the analysis of feces for helminth eggs and protozoa.

-Stool collection is carried out in the morning from 6 to 7 o'clock. Pieces of biomaterial collected from 2-3 different places are put into a prepared container.

-The volume of feces required to detect helminth eggs should be approximately half of the container.

-For more accurate detection of protozoa and their cysts in the material, the container must be delivered to the laboratory while still warm, that is, no later than 15 minutes after collection.

Preparation of the patient and collection of biomaterial for a fecal occult blood test.

- Stool should not contain impurities such as urine, disinfectants, etc.

- For three days follow a diet that excludes iron-containing foods and medications.

- The content of the morning stool from 3 points is collected in a container and delivered to the laboratory.

- It is not possible to examine stool after an enema, rectal suppositories, laxatives, or dyes.

Preparation of the patient and collection of biomaterial for analysis for fecal coprological examination

- Stool is collected in a plastic container.

- For the study, fecal fragments are taken from 2-3 places of the entire fecal mass.

- Do not take medications that increase intestinal peristalsis and medications that change the color of stool (iron, barium, bismuth preparations) 3-4 days before the test.

- Do not use rectal suppositories, enemas, or thermal procedures on the abdomen.

Preparation of the patient and collection of the urine specimen for analysis

- Do not take alcohol, and do not carry out thermal and physiotherapeutic procedures on the lower abdomen for 3 days.

- Do not have sexual intercourse, and cancel the use of local antiseptic, antifungal drugs, candles, and ointments.

- Refrain from urinating one hour before the test.

Patient preparation and sputum collection for analysis

1. Collect sputum for analysis in the morning on an empty stomach.

2. Before collection brush your teeth and rinse your mouth with water.

3. Spit out saliva.
